The design of the Nissan Note doesn't necessarily knock you off your feet. But the hatchback does not only surprise with features from higher segments.

Surprise parties had their heyday in the past century. Nissan gave a revitalization with the new Note that hit the market last year. Just as the supposed target person enters a dark apartment after work in the evening, the design of the five-door hatchback sedan does not necessarily invite everyone to linger. But then the light is turned on…
Lush space in the Nissan Note
What is surprising at first is the amount of space that the 4.10 meter long Note offers. At the front, the driver and front passenger don't have to worry anyway, but the up to three people at the back can easily have grown longer without the risk of bumps in their legs and knees. Only the trunk volume between 325 and 411 liters indicates that the Note is actually in the small car segment.
The seating comfort also seems a bit too soft at first, but longer distances could be covered without the risk of damage to the intervertebral discs. The instruments can be operated or read very intuitively, only the air conditioning in the center console is a little too low, so that you have to look away from the street in order to set the correct temperature. There is also no need for the volume control on the steering wheel, as the button on the audio system is right next to the steering wheel and the right hand can better adjust the volume.
Nissan Note in a practical bird's eye view
But right next to the controller follows with the Around View Monitor (AVM) developed by Nissan, which is included in the 1200 Euro technology package (series in the highest variant Tekna). When parking, the 5.8-inch touchscreen offers the normal perspective of the reversing camera and a helicopter perspective that shows curbs or verges and makes parking child's play - automatic parking aids, as the new Qashqai is now also getting, are actually not required.

Even when driving forward, the grade is taken care of by assistants who are otherwise at home in higher segments. The so-called Safety Shield houses a blind spot assistant, a lane keeping assistant and a system for detecting moving objects, which for example detects a child when pulling out of a parking space.
Low consumption with the Nissan Note 1.2

But the Note also presents itself as a surprise bag when driving. The 1.2 liter gasoline engine is not as powerfully equipped with its 59 kW / 80 PS as other competitors in the segment, but it is completely sufficient. Sure, with just 110 Newton meters at 4,000 revolutions, 13.7 seconds pass before a speed of 100 is reached. But the note feels more potent. The 1.1 ton truck can still reach 160 km / h on the autobahn quite well, then it gets tough. But that's not what matters with this model.
Those who are traveling at 135 km / h have a consumption of 6.8 liters. In the city, the note surpriseswith a very good 5.5 liters - with a high proportion of city motorway kilometers, however. With the eco button next to the gear knob of the five-speed gearbox, the driver should be encouraged to drive more economically, which also works well. Changes to the drive by switching on the Eco button are not noticed.
Nissan Note 1.2 Acenta from 15,990 euros

And the price for the note in the second equipment variant, Acenta, is also pleasing. 15,990 euros have to be invested, 2,000 euros more than for the basic Visia version. In addition, there are 1,200 euros for the technology package and 500 euros for the family package with the variable trunk floor. And then the light can be turned on again…
