The VW Group got off to a good start in the second quarter. The Wolfsburg-based company was able to increase its sales by over eight percent in the previous month-

Europe's largest car manufacturer Volkswagen has made a successful start to the second quarter. As the company announced on Friday, 848,500 units were sold worldwide in April, an increase of 8.2 percent. In the first four months of the year, the Wolfsburg-based company was able to deliver 3.25 million units (+6.4 percent) to customers.

As group sales director Christian Klingler said, the global market environment presented itself inconsistently. "While the markets in South America and Russia are declining, the regions of Europe and above all Asia-Pacific are growing, where we continue to develop better than the overall market," said Klingler.

USA is weak, China is booming

VW was able to increase its sales by eight percent in Europe as a whole from January to April with 1.30 million vehicles. West Europe accounted for 691,200 units (+ 8.7 percent) - but without Germany. On the home market, sales rose by six percent to 392,300 vehicles. In the US, however, things are still not going well for VW: deliveries here fell by 4.9 percent to 184,300 units. The multi-brand group is still on the road to success in China, where with 1.19 million vehicles, an increase of 17 percent was achieved.

While the core brand VW Passenger Cars delivered 1.99 million (+ 4.6 percent) vehicles to customers worldwide from January to April, sales at the Group subsidiary Audi rose by 11.7 percent to 561,900 vehicles after the first four months of the year. The sports car manufacturer Porsche had delivered 55,000 (+ 5.2 percent) vehicles to customers worldwide as of April. Skoda was able to grow significantly: the Czechs had 336,800 vehicles in the first four months, a growth of 13 percent. The growth course is also continuing at the Spanish subsidiary Seat: 127,400 vehicles (+ 8.8 percent) were delivered to customers worldwide from January to April. (AG / FM)
