VW orders 6700 Tourans with natural gas drive to the workshops twice. In the family van, two bottles must be deactivated.
The car manufacturer Volkswagen has called on owners of the Touran EcoFuel family van to bring their car to the workshop. The company said that 6,700 car owners in Germany who bought a Touran with natural gas drive from the production period September 2005 to May 2009 are affected.

The natural gas bottles mounted under the car are to be checked and two of the containers are to be deactivated, it said. "The bottles do not meet our quality standards," said a spokesman for the dpa. There is no danger for drivers, the measure is taken as a precaution.
After deactivating the cylinders, the natural gas range is reduced, but the cars can still be used without restriction. In a second step, the bottles should then be exchanged. But it could take three to four weeks until there were enough replacement bottles across Germany. VW then wanted to write to those affected again. (dpa)
