Volkswagen has given the Touran a facelift. The family van has not only become lighter and more spacious, but also more expensive. The new generation will be launched in September.
As the undisputed bestseller among compact vans, the VW Touran has of course remained true to its new edition. The new generation will arrive at dealers in September, which is more spacious, lighter and slightly more expensive. It can be ordered from 23,350 euros, 100 euros more than the basic version previously cost. The compact van is then motorized with an 81 kW / 110 PS petrol engine.
The five-door model, which can be ordered with five or seven seats, is based on VW's modular transverse matrix and is up to 62 kilograms lighter, depending on the version. And that although the second generation has grown by 13 centimeters to 4.53 meters in length. Passengers and luggage benefit from an extra 11.3 centimeters wheelbase. The Touran remains a classic van with a short bonnet and box-shaped body.
Sporty R packages available
The basic engines will be available at the market launch, with both the smallest gasoline engine and diesel producing 81 kW / 110 PS, each 5 PS more than its predecessor. The medium-sized engines are likely to enjoy greater popularity, the 2.0-liter diesel with 110 kW / 150 PS or the gasoline engine with the same displacement and output. The top engines follow later, such as the diesel with 140 kW / 190 PS known from the Golf GTD or the most powerful petrol engine with 132 kW / 180 PS.
For the first time, the Touran can be decorated inside and out with sporty R packages. The bestseller also has a modern, online-capable infotainment system, assistance systems from the Golf family, for example a lane marker and a spacer, emergency braking function and aids for parking and leaving. Full-LED headlights and a head-up display are also available (at an additional cost). (SP-X)
