Due to the order situation, Opel will lay off fewer employees than planned in the restructuring plan. The manufacturer is also looking for engineers.
At Opel, fewer jobs are likely to be cut than initially expected. As the works council has now informed the industry journal "Automotive News Europe", a lot of component production will remain in-house, and a third shift will be introduced in view of the great demand for Astra and Insignia. In addition, it is important to replace the strong born 1952 to 1954 - many employees of this age group go into partial retirement.
750 additional contract workers
And the car manufacturer is already making settings again. This year, like last year, around 400 new engineers are to be hired. In addition, 750 temporary workers are employed in the development center.
Another 400 jobs will be created in the third production shift in Rüsselsheim. They are offered to the workers in the Bochum plant. The new shift is scheduled to start after the factory holidays in September. This will prepare the start of production for the new Astra five-door, half of which, i.e. 80,000 to 90,000 units, will roll off the assembly line in the Hessian production site in 2012. (mid)
