Auto Mobil International in Leipzig only takes place every two years. Now, with Amitec, Amicom and Amistyle, three trade fairs should offer an adequate replacement.
As of this weekend, three auto-related trade fairs are to replace Auto Mobil International (AMI) in Leipzig. The association offers the industry a showcase even without the AMI, especially since the region is an important automotive location, said the President of the Association of International Motor Vehicle Manufacturers, Volker Lange, on Thursday in Leipzig. Since the auto show takes place every two years, alternating with the Frankfurt IAA, the Amitec, Amicom and Amistyle trade fairs from April 9th to 13th are dedicated to workshops, electronics and tuning. 315 exhibitors from 20 countries have registered for the fair.
Auto industry with high expectations
"The industry has high expectations in Leipzig," said the managing director of Leipziger Messe, Martin Buhl-Wagner, on Thursday. Above all, the Amicom trade fair with its innovations in the field of entertainment and navigation technology in cars clearly convinced the manufacturers at its premiere in 2010 - the exhibition area has grown by 15 percent.
The good economic development means that the fair is already looking forward to the AMI year 2012 with hope. "In the first quarter of this year, 14 percent more cars were sold than in the same period last year," said Lange. So it is not surprising that there are already some commitments from exhibitors for the AMI. Among them are some manufacturers who had to cancel their participation due to the crisis last year, it said. (dpa)
