Opel has modernized the Astra. According to the trend, the biggest innovations have happened under the hood. The prices should hardly have changed.
Three years after it was launched, Opel revised the Astra. That's why three- and five-door hatchbacks, station wagons and convertible coupé will be arriving at dealerships in February with a subtly retouched design, an upgraded interior, partially expanded equipment and a range of new engines, the Rüsselsheim-based manufacturer announced at an event in San Diego, California With. Hardly changed prices
The Astra is being offered in the new model year with eleven engines, which cover a power range from 66 kW / 90 PS to 176 kW / 240 PS, in some cases produce up to ten percent more and, in the best case, consume thirteen percent less. New to the now seven gasoline engines are two 1.6-liter four-cylinder engines. The engine is available in two versions: As a naturally aspirated engine, it complements the range with 85 kW / 115 PS and 155 Newton meters of torque (Nm), accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour (km / h) in 11.7 seconds, reaches a maximum of 191 km / h h and consumes an average of 6.5 liters.
As a turbo, it replaces the previous two-liter engine with 125 kW / 170 PS. The new engine has 132 kW / 180 PS and goes to work with 230 Nm. It manages the sprint in 8.3 seconds, reaches 221 km / h and consumes 7.7 liters in the standard cycle.
Displacement reduction in diesel
With a total of four diesel engines, Opel is removing the 88 kW / 120 PS 1.9 liter with manual transmission from its range. In its place there will be a 1.7 liter four-cylinder in the future, which will also be offered in two versions with 81 kW / 110 PS or 92 kW / 125 PS. Like all other Astra diesels, both engines have a standard particulate filter, provide 260 and 280 Nm, and, according to Opel, consume 0.5 and 0.9 liters less than the larger engine in the last model year, for example in the five-door model.
The new design features of the Astra include a widened chrome clasp in the radiator grille, retouched front and rear lights as well as new colors, fabrics and materials in the interior. (dpa)
