The Ford Fusion only plays a minor role in everyday automotive life in Germany. The mini-van also fulfills this secondary role very reliably as a used car.
There are cars that belong to a popular segment, but are more like wallflowers. The Ford Fusion minivan is one such case. It may be a little pale on the outside - the car is consistent. Because it behaves inconspicuously even with regard to defects. There are hardly any. The inspection engineers at the main vehicle inspection (HU) were won over by the Fiesta-based van, and it comparatively rarely called the breakdown helpers on the scene.
Ford Fusion with exemplary brakes
At the HU test dates, only seven-year-old specimens with defective axle springs were noticed in terms of chassis, can be read in the “TÜV Report 2014”. Also only in older vehicles does the light cause problems with adjusted headlights. The brakes, on the other hand, are exemplary.
The ADAC noticed especially copies from the years 2002 and 2003. Diesel from 2003 therefore often have problems with the injection system, and the breakdown helpers also found leaky fuel lines. The catalytic converter sometimes broke on diesel engines from 2004. There were also problems with the injection system with gasoline engines (2003). Overall, however, the Ford Fusion is a very solid car, even according to ADAC.
Ford Fusion predecessor of the B-Max
The Fusion, which is quite short for a minivan with a good four meters, was discontinued in mid-2012, after ten years on the market it made way for the more modern designed B-Max. In 2005 Ford revised the Fusion slightly, the facelift brought changes to the front and rear as well as wider side protection strips and retouching in the interior. A second generation of models was never launched.
On the engine side, Ford offered the Fusion from 2005 with a 1.25-liter petrol engine with 55 kW / 75 hp, which was quite economical for the time, which required an average of 6.5 liters (CO2 emissions: 154 g / km). There were also gasoline engines with 59 kW / 80 PS and 74 kW / 100 PS. As the end of the series approached, the manufacturer narrowed down the drive range: From 2011 there were no more diesel engines. The two four-cylinder units previously offered have 50 kW / 68 PS and 66 kW / 90 PS.
Ford Fusion from 2100 euros
According to the Schwacke industry service, a Ford Fusion costs at least 2100 euros on the used car market. At this price you should be able to find a Fusion 1.4 Ambiente with 59 kW / 80 PS strong gasoline engine, which has about 151,200 kilometers behind it. The end of the price scale has been reached with the Fusion 1.6 Trend from 2012 with 74 kW / 100 PS, which is still listed in the Schwacke list at 10,400 euros (30,300 kilometers). The young diesel model Fusion 1.6 TDCI Style from 2010 with 66 kW / 90 PS still costs around 7350 euros (64,800 kilometers). (dpa / tmn)
