At the IAA in Frankfurt, Chevrolet presents its new Aveo. With a freshly styled front and revised engines, the Kalos successor should conquer European customers from March 2008.
From the side, the Aveo from Chevrolet is reminiscent of the current hatchback Kalos. To the previous model, which was developed by the Korean sister company GM. But the face of the new Chevy has become much more distinctive, modern - and more American. Nicely curved clear glass headlight eyes provide the new look. Above all, however, the huge, two-part honeycomb grille, which dominates the front and splendidly displays the cross-shaped Chevrolet logo, is responsible for this. The new, cool radiator design was so well received by the GM bosses that they simply declared it the trademark of all future Chevrolet models.
Significantly increased
GM has significantly upgraded the interior of the Aveo and the drive side has also been improved. A new 1.2 liter petrol engine develops 84 hp - instead of 72 hp as before. The larger 1.4 liter unit has increased by four horsepower and now revs up the front-wheel drive car with 72 kW / 98 PS. The larger engine is available with an automatic transmission on request. A diesel, however, is still not in sight. From March 2008 the new Aveo will be available at European dealers. Initially as a five-door model, a three-door model is to follow later. Chevrolet has not yet given any price information.
Aveo is the name of the current notchback version of the Kalos. However, the small Korean cars no longer bear the Daewoo logo for a long time. The American GM group has been marketing its Korean fleet under the more prestigious Chevrolet logo since 2005. (Press-Inform)
