He wants to attract attention - at any cost. The Jeep Commander not only offers a powerful engine, but also plenty of space.

The best Hummer comes from Jeep. Edgy, crisp and a lot of space - that's the new Commander. It has been a long time since a Jeep has seen such a strong character. Just right for everyone who wants a real guy in the driveway.
Total length of 4.97 meters
Little effort - big effect. Nobody would suspect a Grand Cherokee under the sheet metal of the new Jeep Commander. The Commander is outwardly more independent than one can hardly be. The chrome front grille and windshield stretch almost vertically into the wind. No, this guy isn't a fabric softener - he wants to polarize and just sweep the pale models off the street. A powerful shoulder, beefy wheel arches and almost right-angled shapes. This Commander will poach Hummer customers. With a total length of 4.79 meters, it is hardly larger than the normal Grand Cherokee.

The highlight: there is space for up to seven people in the interior. The three rows of seats are arranged upwards like in a concert hall. So that the heads of the rear passengers have enough space, the roof was raised by a hidden step. And indeed: In the second row of seats, even tall people have enough space for shoulders, head and knees. The outer seats can be folded forwards in two easy steps, revealing the narrow entry into the third row. At least people up to 1.70 meters can sit here. The maximum of five rear passengers enjoy the journey thanks to their proper seats, their own cup holders, air conditioning and a DVD entertainment system.
Well-known Jeep look

The interior has the familiar Jeep look. The space is more than neat, but premium charm is not exactly spread by the inexpensive plastics. After all, the Jeep Commander has amenities such as heated leather seats, electric seat adjustment, automatic climate control, various airbags, ESP and a neatly coordinated five-speed automatic to offer as standard.
Those who want to do something good for the passengers in the rear do not stop at the optional DVD system, but order the two skylights, which provide more light in the interior. Vehicles with seven seats are also enjoying increasing demand in Germany. For many, however, the variability of the interior should be much more interesting. The trunk volume varies between 170 and 1950 liters, depending on the seat configuration. That is van level. Extremely pleasant: the flat loading floor. U
Under the sheet metal, the Jeep Commander hardly differs from the well-known Grand Cherokee technology. The all-wheel drive system Quadra-Drive-II is one of the best on the market with its adaptable power distribution. Thanks to locks and reduction, there is hardly any stopping even off the beaten track. We just miss air suspension. The Jeep Commander is particularly powerful with its beefy 5.7 V8 engine.
2.1 tons

326 hp and 500 Nm (at 4,000 revolutions) make the 2.1-ton American with production site in Graz a power pack. The performance is impressive - but so is the thirst. You should calculate with 17 liters per 100 kilometers. The top speed is 208 km / h in spite of a cupboard wall aerodynamics. It's hard to believe that the impressive American can sprint to the 100 km / h mark in 7.4 seconds. In Europe, most customers are likely to opt for the magnificent three-liter diesel with 218 hp and 510 Nm. Jeep finally offers the engine with a standard particulate filter. The performance is also very good, the thirst is much more moderate with almost eleven liters of diesel per 100 kilometers.
The prices for the new Jeep Commander have not yet been determined, but according to Jeep spokesman Markus Hauf, they are only a few hundred euros above those of the Grand Cherokee. A well-equipped Jeep Commander Limited 3.0 CRD with electric leather seats, automatic air conditioning, three rows of seats and particle filters should start at around 48,000 euros. The HEMI should be around 55,000 euros. The new Jeep Commander will be available from the middle of the year.
