At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nissan will combine brain activity and vehicle interaction. A shorter response time could then prevent dire consequences.
At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Nissan closely connects people and vehicles. With the help of its own brain waves, the safety system supports the driver's actions.

The so-called brain-to-vehicle (B2V) technology shortens the driver's reaction time by up to half a second. In dangerous situations this time is sufficient to protect the occupants and the vehicle from serious damage.
Nissan is pushing for a faster implementation
“When most people think of autonomous driving, they have a very impersonal idea of the future in which people will hand over control of a machine. However, B2V technology does exactly the opposite: signals from the human brain are used to make driving more enjoyable and exciting,”says Nissan Executive Vice President Daniele Schillaci.
A device placed on the driver's head measures the brain waves. An autonomous system then evaluates this. The driver's movements are then implemented imperceptibly faster, regardless of whether the steering wheel is being controlled or the brake pedal is being operated.
The system takes over the command if you feel unwell
The so-called Nissan Intelligent Mobility already recognizes the first signals of an imminent action by the driver. Before the driver steps on the accelerator, the assistance system is already there and provides support.
But the system also records the driver's feelings. Depending on what the driver sees, the assistant adjusts a pleasant environment in the interior. If the driver is uncomfortable, the artificial intelligence takes over control of the vehicle in autonomous mode.
Lucian Gheorghe, Head of B2V Development at the Nissan Research Center in Japan, believes in the breakthrough in the interaction between driver and vehicle: “The possible areas of application for this technology are incredible. It will bring further innovations in our vehicles in the coming years.”The Japanese are showing the first elements of the new technology in a specially constructed simulator at the Las Vegas trade fair.
