After 918 units, Porsche stops the production lines for the 918 Spyder. The technology of the hybrid athlete will still live on.
Porsche completed the last 918 Spyder on Friday. The hybrid sports car, limited to 918 units, has been sold out since September last year, as Porsche spokesman Christian Weiss announced at the request of the Autogazette. Despite the end after 21 months of production, the technology of the 918 Spyder will live on in future generations of sports cars.

The recovery system found its way into the LMP1 prototype 919 Hybrid in a similar form, which celebrated a one-two victory at the 24-hour race in Le Mans last weekend. Adaptive aerodynamics and rear-axle steering, on the other hand, are used in certain production sports cars.
The plug-in hybrid premiered as a concept study at the Geneva Motor Show in 2010 and received the “Go” for production a short time later. The market launch took place at the end of 2013, the 887 hp bolide costs at least 768,000 euros. Many of the models were sold in the USA, no details are given, nor is it stated to whom the last Spyder was sold.
Porsche improves
Despite its success, several hundred units of the 918 Spyder had to be reworked because the electrical wiring harness of the radiator fan could possibly be damaged by a piece of carbon fiber. To this end, Porsche ordered back all vehicles that had already been sold and optimized the units still in production in the local factory. “The vehicles have to be perfect,” Weiss continued.
