Fatigue at the wheel often leads to accidents. A 15-minute break in sleep, on the other hand, can be very invigorating.

With the first national turbo sleep day, the Touring Club Switzerland (TCS) is now launching a three-year campaign against fatigue at the wheel. Because up to 20 percent of all traffic accidents are caused by overtired drivers. Anyone who feels drowsy while driving should stop as soon as possible and take a 15-minute break from sleep - the so-called "turbo sleep". But 30 minutes of sleep is too long because you then fall into deep sleep. The traffic experts agree that listening to loud music, singing along loudly or opening windows does not help against fatigue.

Different behaviors

A study has shown that normal drivers and professional drivers deal differently with their fatigue. Both test groups use the radio and open the window, but drivers make more phone calls and seek a conversation with the front passenger, while professional drivers often take a break, take short breaks and drink more coffee.
