Car manufacturer Jeep is now also arriving in Germany with its new off-road vehicle. The Commander is the first jeep with seven seats.
The American car maker Jeep is now sending its Commander off-road vehicle to the German market. Technically, the car is based on the previous flagship Grand Cherokee, but has a more angular design inside and out. In addition, the body will be stretched by four centimeters, said Jeep.
The company uses this gain in space for a third row of seats, making the Commander the first Jeep in the company's history to have seven seats. Because the two rows of seats in the rear can be folded down, the trunk volume can be gradually increased from a minimum of 212 to a maximum of 1940 liters. The price scale for the new off-road vehicle, which is being built in Graz, Austria, starts at 40,900 euros.
One diesel and two petrol
There are initially three engines to drive the Commander: one diesel and two petrol. The diesel, which is fitted with a particle filter as standard, has an output of 160 kW / 218 hp, reaches a maximum of 510 Newton meters (Nm), accelerates to 100 kilometers per hour (km / h) in 9.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 191 km / h. Jeep indicates its consumption at 10.8 liters.
There is also the Commander with two V8 petrol engines. The smaller one has 4.7 liters displacement, 170 kW / 231 PS and 410 Nm, reaches 100 km / h in 9.5 seconds and a top speed of 189 km / h. Consumption is 4.8 liters according to the manufacturer. The larger one draws its 240 kW / 326 PS and 500 Nm from 5.7 liters of displacement. It takes 7.4 seconds up to 100 km / h, reaches 208 km / h and consumes an average of 15.5 liters.
In addition to all-wheel drive and automatic transmission, the standard equipment of all models includes front, side and curtain airbags extended to the third row, an electronic stability program as well as parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, air conditioning and a music system with CD changer.
