Jaguar expands its portfolio of SUVs. After entering the SUV segment only last year, the British are now driving up with a smaller representative.
At first the British ignored the SUV trend for a long time - now it can't be going fast enough for them: Just one year after the F-Pace, Jaguar is launching a class below the E-Pace. As the British luxury manufacturer announced, the new competitor of the Audi Q5, BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC will be presented on July 13th.
"The combination of sports car-like design and authentic Jaguar performance also characterizes the E-Pace," says Jaguar Head of Design Ian Callum. “Every Jaguar is designed to stimulate the senses. We think that the E-Pace does exactly that - but through its own distinctive character."
Jaguar E-Pace technically related to XE
Technically, the E-Pace is closely related to the Jaguar XE and, in addition to its optional all-wheel drive, also uses its so-called Ingenium engines with four or six cylinders and 2.0 or 3.0 liters displacement.
Accordingly, there should be gasoline engines from 147 kW / 200 PS to 250 kW / 340 PS and diesel from 120 kW / 163 PS to 132 kW / 180 PS. Jaguar has not yet given any further technical data or details.
According to Jaguar, prices will start at around 35,000 euros. The market launch is planned for the beginning of 2018. Then the i-Pace, the first electrically powered model from the British, will also go into series production. (AG / dpa / tmn)
