Citroen is known for its futuristic concept cars, now the French are presenting the study 19_19. It gives a glimpse into the future of the brand.
Visually, technically and with its comfort solutions, the futuristic concept car points to an even more distant Citroen future. An unusual detail are the free-standing 30-inch wheels developed in cooperation with Goodyear, in which the tire and rim merge.

These hybrid wheels are designed to ensure low noise levels. In conjunction with an adaptive chassis, the French promise a particularly high level of driving comfort.
Citroen 19_19 equipped with lidar technology
The actual body of the 19_19 with its futuristically designed front and rear lights is an almost monolithic-looking body that largely dispenses with frills or add-on parts such as exterior mirrors. In the rear area of the roof, however, there are two fins in which the LIDAR technology is housed.
Side doors hinged in opposite directions and the absence of B-pillars allow a generous entry into a comfortably designed interior that is flooded with light thanks to many glass surfaces. In the rear there are sofa-like seats on which the passengers can lay their heads on a net-like structure made of elastic cords. The passenger side, however, offers a reclining chair. If necessary, the driver can relax on this, because the autopilot can also take over the vehicle control. Then the steering wheel and pedals retreat in the tidy cockpit.
Largely avoiding buttons
In any case, the workstation largely dispenses with buttons or switches, as occupants of the 19_19 can use voice control to access multimedia content, activate calls or regulate interior lighting and air conditioning functions.
If desired, the Citroen concept not only drives autonomously, but also in principle purely electrically. Two electric motors on the front and rear axles provide 462 hp and 800 Newton meters of torque, which allows a sprint time from zero to 100 kilometers in 5 seconds and a maximum of 200 km / h. A 100 kWh battery enables a range of 800 kilometers. Charging - wireless thanks to induction charging technology - should take 20 minutes. (SP-X)
