Jaguar's Special Vehicles Operations department has done well again. With the XE SV Project 8, the specialists have transformed the British brand's entry-level model into a racing car.

What happens when Jaguar's “Special Vehicle Operations” department (SVO) transplanted the 5.0-liter supercharged V8 from the F-Type R into the XE sedan? Right: A power sedan that is now set to compete with racetrack giants like the BMW M4 GTS.

For this purpose, the V8 engine was inflated from 423 kW / 575 PS to 441 kW / 600 PS, which - thanks in part to all-wheel drive - shoots the XE SV Project 8 from zero to 100 km / h in just 3.3 seconds. The top speed is only reached at 322 km / h.

A lot of carbon in use

So that the handmade toy, limited to 300 pieces, cuts a fine figure not only on the straights but also in the curve, SVO assembles a lot of performance parts. For example, there is a coilover kit with adjustable dampers, forged 20-inch aluminum rims and a flat underbody.

To save weight, the two bumpers as well as the hood and the adjustable front splitter are made of carbon. A rear spoiler, which can also be adjusted, should provide downforce. The significantly widened fenders are particularly visually spectacular.

Premiere at Goodwood

In order to make the XE SV Project 8 attractive for as many customers as possible, the special model - unlike the M4 GTS, for example - is available in two versions. The “normal” model comes to customers with four seats, lighter front seats and deeper seat hollows in the rear. However, if they also order the optional “Track Pack”, the rear row of seats is replaced by a roll bar to which harness straps are mounted. The latter hold the driver and front passenger in a vice-like manner in the light carbon full bucket seats, which are also part of the “Track Pack”.

The XE SV Project 8, which will be available in autumn at prices starting at around 170,000 euros, will celebrate its world premiere at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. (SP-X)
