Hyundai is ahead of Toyota. From May the South Koreans will be offering the first hydrogen car in series - Hyundai had already revealed the prices to the Autogazette in December.

Hyundai is boosting the fuel cell car segment. Even before the Toyota Mirai, the South Koreans will be offering the ix35 Fuell Cell from May at a price of 65,450 euros. “Introducing the competitively-priced model is an important step not only for Hyundai, but for all of fuel cell technology. We are proud to consolidate our pioneering position in this area. The ix35 Fuel Cell is a real pioneer, said Markus Schrick. The managing director of Hyundai Motor Germany had already revealed the price in an interview with Autogazette.de in December.

Schrick had already announced the leasing rate of 1290 euros over four years. While companies or authorities have been leasing the hydrogen-powered vehicle since the summer of 2013, which is already sold in eleven European countries as well as on the home market, Australia, the USA and Canada, private customers can now also access it.

The ix35 Fuel Cell is already fully equipped. Hyundai also gives a five-year guarantee up to 100,000 kilometers. With the drive of the future, which only emits water, the Hyundai creates a range of over 600 kilometers. The 136 hp three-phase asynchronous motor reaches 100 km / h in 12.5 seconds and has a top speed of 160 km / h.

However, the question of refueling still arises for potential customers. There are currently 15 locations in Germany where the two hydrogen tanks with a total capacity of 5.94 kilograms can be filled in a few minutes. In the coming year, up to 40 filling stations should be ready in Germany. (AG)
