At Saab it goes on. A supplier's bankruptcy petition has been withdrawn.

A Saab supplier has withdrawn its bankruptcy petition against the owner of the Swedish car manufacturer in court. Håkan Bodin, manager of Labo Test, confirmed this to the dpa news agency on Wednesday. The company had wanted to force the consortium National Electric Vehicle Sweden (Nevs) into bankruptcy because of open bills. A hearing in a court in Vänersborg had been scheduled for September. Now the Labo Test, which manufactures air conditioning systems, has rowed back.

Nevs has reported negotiations with potential partners and investors, said Bodin. "Based on this information, we have decided to withdraw our filing for a bankruptcy hearing," the company said in a press release.

Sufficient assets

"We can't pay all of our debts right now," a Nevs spokesman had previously admitted. "We are very sorry and we are working on short-term solutions." He was silent about the amount of debt.

Because of the liquidity problems, Saab had already separated from consultants in May and stopped production in Trollhättan, Sweden. Nevs had justified this with the fact that a shareholder had failed to meet his financing obligations.

Since then, the conveyor belts have stood still - and the Chinese main owner National Modern Energy Holdings is looking for new partners. "We are currently in talks with two major Asian automakers," said a Nevs spokesman. The company is not insolvent, he emphasized. "We have assets that are greater than our debts."(dpa)
