The new Ford Focus ST tournament is in the starting blocks. At the end of July, the sporty station wagon should roll out to dealers. Prices start from 33,100 euros.
At the same time as the sedan, the Focus ST tournament, developed by Ford Performance, will be taking place with one top petrol and one diesel each. The 2.3 liter EcoBoost turbo gasoline engine with four cylinders now develops 280 hp. The EcoBlue four-cylinder turbo diesel with an unchanged 2.0 liter displacement develops 190 hp. Ford offers both engines with a 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The Eco-Boost four-cylinder petrol engine will also be available with a 7-speed automatic at a later date.

For the first time, Ford is using the electronically controlled limited-slip differential eLSD (electronic limited-slip differential) for the petrol variants as standard, which is intended to improve the driving dynamics in both body variants. Thanks to the electronic control, the system reacts predictively to changing grip conditions and implements the driver's steering impulses particularly quickly and directly. It reacts faster and more precisely than a conventional mechanical differential lock. On the basis of numerous sensor data, it should even optimize the torque distribution before a wheel loses traction.
For the first time with a driving mode switch
The ST diesel versions use the well-known torque vectoring technology, i.e. automatic, wheel-selective braking intervention as a sub-function of the electronic stability program. The tournament version also has a special rear axle geometry with offset-positioned dampers, which should guarantee quick-reacting and safe self-steering behavior even when the higher wheel loads are used.
A selective driving mode switch for the four programs "Slippery", "Normal", "Sport" and "Racetrack", with which the driver can individually adjust the characteristics of the car, is also celebrating its premiere in the Ford Focus ST. In addition to the characteristic curve of the gas pedal, the power steering, the ESP and the damper control, the electronics even adjust the electronic engine sound amplifier and the setting of the air conditioning to the desired driving mode.
The new Ford Focus ST tournament starts from 33,100 euros in the diesel version. The ST tournament petrol engine costs exactly one thousand more from 34,100 euros. An automatic transmission for the ST petrol engine is expected to hit the market in November 2019.
