The demands are particularly high in the luxury segment. Bentley knows that too and has given the Flying Spur everything it needs to compete with Rolls-Royce.

At the beginning of 2020, VW's British luxury brand Bentley will be launching the new version of the Flying Spur at prices from 215,000 euros. The noble body, which has grown to a length of 5.32 meters, weighs 2.4 tons and sits enthroned on at least 21 inch wheels, offers not only a lot of comfort but also impressive performance talents.

Responsible for the latter is the six-liter W12 engine with 625 hp and 900 Newton meters of torque, which is hidden behind a huge radiator grille. The excessive power allows a sprint from standing to 100 km / h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 333 km / h. The power is variably distributed to all four wheels via an eight-stage dual clutch transmission from ZF. All-wheel steering also reduces the turning circle at low speeds and ensures greater agility at high speeds.

With a 48 volt electrical system, of course

Other special features of the Flying Spur include chrome-framed, round matrix LED headlights, 48-volt on-board electronics and the largest car brake discs in the world with a diameter of 42 centimeters. In addition, the noble body offers an adaptive air suspension, a digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen for rear passengers. This control display can be used to control curtains, ambient lighting, air conditioning or the massage function of the two rear seats, among other things. There is also a head-up display, a split screen for the infotainment display and various driver assistants such as a night vision system.

As an alternative to the basic audio system with ten speakers, Bentley also offers systems from Bang & Olufsen or Naim for an additional charge. The passenger compartment of the Flying Spur is equipped with a lot of manual work and fine materials. Here, customers are offered various customization options through the Mulliner department. Accordingly, the price for a new Flying Spur can easily be pushed up to over 300,000 euros. (SP-X)
