Toyota celebrates the motor show in Paris very solemnly. With the birthday edition Y20 and the Yaris GR-S, the Japanese are presenting two new variants with different orientations in October, just in time for the 20th anniversary of the small car.
As of 2019, the Yaris Y20 will replace the previous, medium-sized Comfort version and come standard with 16-inch rims, gray accents on the exterior mirrors, a radiator grille, fog lights and side strips as well as dark gray details in the interior. In terms of price, nothing is known about the Y20, in the replaced equipment line the Yaris currently costs 16,000 euros.
The GR-S is inspired by the now sold-out “GRMN” sports model and, in addition to its black and red war paint, also has a modified form of the sports suspension with Sachs dampers (1.1 centimeters lower) and a stiffer anti-roll bar. 17-inch alloy wheels with Bridgestone sports tires are designed to further improve road grip.
Toyota Yaris GR-S with hybrid engine
The GR-S, which is only available as a five-door model, is equipped with the 1.5-liter hybrid engine that produces 74 kW / 100 hp in the normal Yaris. A roof spoiler and black accents round off the exterior, while Alcantara sports seats, the small steering wheel from the GT86 and red accents await the driver in the interior. Again, Toyota does not name a price. The much stronger GRMN started at around 30,000 euros. (SP-X)
