Opel presented the mid-range Cascada convertible at the Geneva Motor Show. The car manufacturer is impressively continuing its product offensive with the classic four-seater.

Opel continues to write positive headlines. After the carmaker was able to increase sales of almost 59,000 cars across Europe by 4.5 percent in January, contrary to the market trend, the Rüsselsheim-based company is continuing its product offensive. On the day before the Geneva Motor Show, which starts today, Opel presented the mid-range Cascada convertible. It will hit the market in April at a price of 25,945 euros. "This car will bring more customers to our showrooms," said Opel sales director Duncan Aldred.

Opel returns to the convertible segment

Of course, in contrast to the small car Adam and the off-road vehicle Mokka, the Cascada is not a volume model. "But it is extremely important for our brand image," said Aldred. With the Cascada, the Rüsselsheim-based company is showing, just as it was with the Adam or the Mokka - for which there are now 90,000 orders across Europe - that Opel can offer attractive models. Of course, a convertible is in a niche segment. But here too there are customers who have to be served - and so far the Opel has not been able to. Now, after the Astra, there is another convertible on offer - and what a convertible.

The 4.70 meter long four-seater attracts attention from the outside with its elongated silhouette and its elaborately finished fabric roof. The fabric roof can be opened up to a speed of 50 km / h in just 17 seconds at the push of a button - and of course by remote control when stationary. "Convertibles often only look really good when they are open, but we have attached great importance to ensuring that the Cascada looks attractive even with the soft top closed," says Opel designer Malcolm Ward. By the way, customers can choose from three roof colors at market launch.

Premium claim in the interior of the Opel Cascada

Incidentally, the Rüsselsheim-based company has incorporated everything that the car manufacturer currently has to offer in terms of high-tech into the Cascada. These include, for example, the HiperStrut front axle, which was originally developed for the Insignia OPC, and the Felx Ride chassis system, which is already known from other Opel models.

Of course, the familiar driver assistance systems such as the collision warning system, the lane change assistant or traffic sign recognition are optionally available for the mid-range convertible. And as befits a mid-range vehicle, Opel has attached great importance to the Cascada's premium appearance. The interior can be optionally equipped with brown nappa leather. The claim to offer a touch of premium in the middle class is also reflected in the quality of workmanship. The materials not only look good, they also feel good. Accordingly, those responsible for Opel are also confident that the Cascada will take another step forward. (AG / FM)
