With the 6 Series GT, BMW has a new flagship in the Gran Turismo series. The successor to the 5 Series GT is not only more beautiful than the 5 Series GT, but also much more agile than its predecessor.

BMW knows its way around number games. Threes became fours, and ones became twos. And the six will soon become the eighth. So it is no surprise that the Munich-based Gran Turismo is now also climbing a number. The five GT is replaced by the six.
"The vehicle is not just a further development, but a leap in presence and size. The relationship to the seven with identical wheelbase and air suspension is just as evident as the relationship to the five. So the six fits," says project manager Claus-Otto Griebel of the Autogazette.
BMW 6 Series GT with enormous space
The first look already shows the leap that the 6 Series GT has made. If the five-car GT had a noticeably bulky rear end, the designers have now better integrated the rear section into the vehicle - similar to the three-car GT.
The sideline emphasizes the coupé character, but unlike the coupés, the GT has plenty of space. Not only the extremely long wheelbase of 3.07 meters gives all occupants a lot of leg and headroom. Thanks to a raised seating position, the feet of the people seated at the rear can also be placed under the front seats. And the trunk holds between 610 and 1800 liters, so that nothing stands in the way of vacation.
Guaranteed security in a noble ambience

Embedded in elegant leather seats, the driver and his passengers can enjoy full luxury on board. A 10-inch monitor introduces the occupants into the digital world. The office can be integrated as well as the leisure activities. Thanks to networking, the target persons to whom the trip is going can also use their smartphone to track where the car is currently and how long the remaining travel time will be.
Numerous driver assistance systems ensure safety on board. Thanks to adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, the vehicle could be left to itself. The Sechser GT is easily switched on at the push of a button on the steering wheelGets open very quickly and without delays, even if the person in front accelerates. Waiting moments that were not fully developed in these systems in the past no longer exist with the six. That’s how autonomous driving will feel at some point. But no matter when this speed level is reached, these systems simply provide security.
BMW 6 Series GT with agile handling

Especially when things have to go a little faster. The entry-level petrol engine 630i with four cylinders and 190 kW / 258 hp manages the sprint in 6.3 seconds. The 250 kW / 340 PS six-cylinder 640i is another 0.9 seconds faster and, like the slightly weaker version, is braked at 250 km / h.
But it's not just the speed that enchants the occupants, but also the precise chassis, which has been given a good compromise between sportiness and comfort and feels more agile than its predecessor, which is 150 kilograms heavier. With a defensive driving style the determined 7.7 liters are within the realm of the possible. But the agility and the amount of possibilities to get pleasure while driving are very great.
BMW 6 Series GT from 62,300 euros
The steering is very direct, and the Gran Turismo, which weighs at least two tons, remains very confident in the bends - a perfect chauffeur limousine. In the interior, the driver and front passenger can enjoy the quiet or, thanks to the sound system, watch Herbert von Karajan's last concert - depending on how much is invested in the system.
Because traditionally the list of optional extras has been generous, so that the starting price of 62,300 euros for the 630i or almost 6,000 euros more for the 640i will continue to skyrocket, as will the prices for the two diesels (66,900 euros for the 630d and 69,500 euros for the all-wheel drive variant). But BMW knows its way around numbers.
