It's getting crowded on the highways of the republic. The next big wave of travel starts next weekend. Because the summer holidays begin in five other federal states.

Only Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and North Rhine-Westphalia are still at home alone. Everyone else is already on vacation. This weekend, car tourists from Bremen, Lower Saxony, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia are packing their bags.

Return traffic is no longer trouble-free

The starting signal for the holidays is also being given in the south of the Netherlands. At the same time, the second wave of travelers from Hamburg, Hesse, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schleswig-Holstein, Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate is rolling in.

The ADAC predicts that there will be nowhere without long traffic jams. Even on the highways for the return journey, traffic no longer flows smoothly, because the first vacationers are already on their way home. The additional truck holiday driving ban should promise some relief. It comes into force on Saturday, July 6th and is valid until the end of August every Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The particularly busy highways are (in both directions):

A 2 Dortmund - Hanover - Berlin

A 3 Cologne - Frankfurt - Nuremberg

A 4 Erfurt - Dresden - Görlitz

The prospects for free travel through neighboring countries are also bleak. The whole of Europe is now on the move. The problem routes include the Tauern, Fernpass, Brenner, Karawanken and Gotthard routes. And the highways to the Italian, Croatian and French coasts will also be heavily used.

If you want to find out about the current traffic situation on the German autobahn, you should use the traffic jam indicator on the Autogazette. It provides information about the current traffic situation every five minutes. With it, you will be less stressful on your summer vacation and you can prepare for traffic disruptions on your vacation route. (AG)
