The French car maker Peugeot has announced the prices for its plug-in hybrid models. They start at 44,000 euros.

The cheapest option is the mid-range Peugeot 508 sedan, which has the simpler front-wheel drive version of the technology. As a station wagon, the 508 Hybrid is in the price list from 45,100 euros. The compact SUV-3008 comes up with the more complex and more powerful all-wheel drive variant. It drives from 50,800 euros from the dealer's yard.

The capacity of the 300V lithium-ion batteries is 11.5 kWh for the hybrid and 13.2 kWh for the hybrid4. In all three models, the battery pack is located under the second row of seats to save space. The plug-in hybrid models therefore have the same storage space as their versions with combustion engines.

Electric range at 50 kilometers

The role of the combustion engine is assumed in both cases by a 1.6-liter gasoline engine, which is coupled with one electric motor in the front-wheel drive version and two electric motors in the all-wheel drive version. In the first case, the overall system has an output of 225 hp, in the second, 300 hp. The electric range is just over 50 kilometers for all models. For its hybrid models, Peugeot has also further developed its eight-speed automatic transmission. It should ensure that the power of the electric motors is optimally used and that consumption is efficient.

In the coming months, Peugeot wants to further expand its range of plug-in hybrids, including the 3008 with front-wheel drive. The power here is also 225 hp. In addition, the sister brands Opel, Citroen and DS are also planning corresponding models. The French offers three equipment variants for the 508 Hybrid and the 508 SW Hybrid. A reversing camera and a 10-inch touch display are standard equipment in the Allure equipment variant. The GT-Line comes with Alcantara seats in Greval gray as standard. A night vision system can be ordered as an option for all variants.

“With the introduction of the plug-in hybrids, we are taking the next step in our electric offensive. We are already offering four models with an electrified variant,”said Peugeot Germany boss Steffen Raschig.
