After 2014 was marked by the points reform, 2015 will also bring some innovations for drivers. This also means that the license plate can be kept when changing residence.
While there were still extensive changes to be made in the year just ended, such as point reforms and vehicle tax increases, 2015 will be more contemplative when it comes to new regulations. Drivers even benefit from some of them. We have put together what changes. Take your
license plate with you: As of January 1st, the “obligation to re-label vehicles when moving” will no longer apply. Within Germany, drivers can keep the license plate number of their previous place of residence when they change their place of residence. According to the ADAC, the vehicle only receives a license plate for the new place of residence when it is newly registered.
E-Mobility Act is coming
De-registering a car online: The future de-registration of a vehicle is also made easier and can be done online: Anyone who registers a car from 2015 will receive a new vehicle registration document and can save themselves the trip to the vehicle registration office if they de-register in the future. You scratch off fields on the license plate and in the vehicle registration document. The codes that have become visible in this way are entered online to unsubscribe. It will take another year before approval can also take place online.
Stricter regulations for temporary license plates:From April 1st, temporary license plates will only be allocated if the vehicle that is to be driven with the temporary license plate has undergone a valid general inspection or a safety inspection. Exception: If the journey leads directly to the licensing authority or the HU test.
(Tax) advantages for electric cars: From mid-2015, electric cars are to receive advantages in road traffic, free parking and the use of bus lanes are provided. If you want to buy an electric car, you should use the ten-year tax exemption until December 2015: From 2016, e-vehicles will only be tax exempt for five years. For these advantages, the government has introduced an electric mobility law.
Route radar is coming
Stricter limit values: From September 1, 2015, gasoline and diesel engines in newly registered cars must meet the limit values of the Euro 6 emission class. In the case of diesel engines, the limit for nitrogen oxide emissions is reduced by 50 percent compared to Euro 5 to 80 milligrams per kilometer.
Lightning is provided by route radar: Lower Saxony is testing a new method of catching speeding offenders on federal highway 6 near Hanover from spring. In this pilot project, known in the technical jargon as "section control", the speed is measured on longer sections of the route, each vehicle is recorded at the beginning and at the end of the radar route, and the average speed driven is calculated from this.
More expensive fare dodging:If the new regulation spoils driving, you should be careful when switching to public transport: From January, fare-dodging on buses and trains will be 50 percent more expensive: instead of the previous 40 euros, a fine of 60 euros will be due, reports the ACE car club.
