Anyone looking for an Opel Corsa E will quickly find it on the used car market. You can't go wrong with the Rüsselsheimers' car.
With the production stop in summer 2019, the career of the Opel Corsa E ended comparatively abruptly after less than five years. If you want the definitely last Corsa with technology from the former parent company General Motors, you now have to search the used market. Here the range - typical for the series - is numerous and varied.

In the meantime, there are models with higher mileage from as little as 4000 euros. Used Corsa E with moderate mileage are available for less than 6,000 euros. There is little that can be done wrong, because until now the reason car, which is just over 4 meters long, has been considered unproblematic.
Compact dimensions
As in previous generations, the Corsa E is also a small car in the best sense of the word. Despite its compact dimensions, there is enough space for luggage and passengers in the passenger compartment. If you want to take back passengers with you more often, you should choose a five-door, which in addition to the more comfortable boarding also offers more room for development in the back seat. The trunk of this variant can also hold 285 to 1120 liters, 5 to 30 liters more than the three-door model.
Depending on the level of equipment, the small Opel is not only stylish inside, but also comfortable. The cockpit is characterized by a handsome mix of materials with high-gloss surfaces and various chrome frames, as well as a clear number of switches and buttons. The highlight is the optionally available seven-inch touchscreen of the infotainment and networking system IntelliLink, which enables many functions, such as navigation, in connection with a smartphone.
Variety of engines
As is traditional with the Corsa, plenty of drive options were also offered for the E. The performance spectrum ranges from a sufficient 70 hp to the 207 hp OPC variant. Definitely the best compromise between good driving performance and moderate consumption is offered by the 1.0-liter three-cylinder 1.0 EDIT, which is available in the output levels 90 PS and 115 PS. However, these units are only available as manual switches. If you want a real automatic, you have to look for the 1.4-liter four-cylinder with 90 hp.
This unit is also rarely found in combination with the Easytronic automated manual transmission, which was also offered for the 1.3 CDTI diesel, which is available in two power levels (75 PS or 95 PS). The diesel engines are very frugal, but also rare. Especially in combination with the aforementioned Easytronic. Those who value driving pleasure above all will find interesting alternatives to the particularly pointed and also quite expensive OPC with the 110 kW / 150 PS variants S and GSi.
Four stars at EuroNCAP
Although it was enough for the EuroNCAP for the Corsa E for only four stars, with regard to the safety assistants it is up to date from today's perspective. There is blind spot warning, a lane keeping assistant, traffic sign and high beam assistant as well as a camera-based collision warning. Opel also offered bi-xenon headlights with LED daytime running lights and a heated steering wheel for small cars. Another highlight is the Flexfix bicycle rack integrated in the rear apron, which can be pulled out if required. The Corsa E is available in a total of eight equipment variants. In addition to the sporty versions GSi and OPC, these are called Selection, Edition, Drive, Color Edition and Innovation. The particularly attractive version 120 Years of Opel was only introduced in 2019.
While the predecessor Corsa D is not exactly a model student in terms of long-term quality, the assessment of the successor in the TÜV report is clearly more positive. At least the examiners attest the little Rüsselsheimer for the first HU a below average susceptibility to defects compared to the segment. However, the mileage of the tested specimens was on average well below the segment value. So far, the examined Corsa E have not shown any noteworthy abnormalities, neither in terms of chassis components nor rust.
Problems with the foot brake
Only the foot and parking brakes weakened more than average. The ignition coils can occasionally cause problems. The dust sleeve on the drive shaft can also have cracks. Similar to the TÜV report, the breakdown statistics of the ADAC confirm that the Corsa E has performed well so far.
If you are looking for a good and cheap small car, you will definitely find it in the Opel Corsa E. The little Rüsselsheimer is not only recommended as a simple car for tight budgets, it can also meet even the highest demands in terms of comfort, equipment and performance. If you want to start at a higher level, you usually have to invest a five-digit sum in the case of the Corsa E. But it is also much cheaper. You can do little wrong, because so far TÜV and ADAC certify the last Corsa with GM technology a robust nature. (SP-X)
