With the Precept concept car, Polestar is showing how the future of the brand is imagined at the Geneva Motor Show. The focus is on sustainability.

The study presented this Tuesday wants to show what a future four-door touring sedan from the Volvo subsidiary could look like. Thanks to a wheelbase of 3.10 meters, the elongated tourer should offer plenty of space for the passengers and also space for a large, long-distance battery.

Unusual design detail: a large rear window that extends over the heads of the rear passengers.

Use of sustainable materials

The interior of the four-seater Precept features materials made from renewable raw materials and recycled plastic. For example, the seats were made from PET bottles, while cork vinyl was used for the upholstery. According to Polestar, the composite materials made from flax for interior cladding and backrests should offer significant weight savings of up to 50 percent compared to conventional materials. The waste of the plastics used should even be reduced by 80 percent.

The seats are knitted from recycled PET bottles in a 3D process, the cushions and headrests are made from recycled cork vinyl, while the carpets are made from recycled fishing nets. These elements, combined with digital avant-garde, define a new premium luxury that exceeds the previous conventions of leather, wood and chrome. In the future, sustainable fabrics are to be increasingly incorporated into the brand's series models.

Android-based interface

The new infotainment technology that Polestar is presenting on board the study should be a little more specific. The Android-based interface relies on "eye tracking" for operation - the tracking of eye movements. The infotainment system was developed in close cooperation with Google, with a 15-inch touchscreen in the center console being supplemented by a 12.5-inch driving display. Both displays are enclosed in an illuminated frame that encompasses the entire interior.

The Swedes do not provide any information about the driving force behind the study. As in the two production cars, the plug-in coupe Polestar 1 and the purely electrically powered Polestar 2 hatchback sedan, as well as the already announced Polestar 3 SUV, a production model of the Precept would also be an electric car.
