Volkswagen is again offering a convertible. The Wolfsburg-based car manufacturer is now also offering its city SUV T-Roc as an open version. It rolls to the customer with a folding roof.

Four years after the end of the open Golf and one year after the end of the Beetle with a soft top, the world's largest car manufacturer has an open model on offer again. The T-Roc is offered with a folding roof.

The convertible version of the compact off-road vehicle will hit the market this spring at prices starting at 27,495 euros. The electric convertible top should disappear within nine seconds behind the back seat - up to 30 km / h even while driving, VW said. The first T-Roc convertible will be at dealerships on March 20th.

T-Roc only with two doors

Instead of four, the T-Roc Cabrio only has two doors. The passengers in the rear move together so far that the middle seat is no longer available. The trunk also shrinks from 445 to 280 liters. The rear seat can be folded down in parts to create more storage options.

The T-Roc is also available as a convertible with a trailer coupling on request. Because all-wheel drive, on the other hand, has taken VW out of the program for this model.

As VW announced, the T-Roc Cabriolet will be offered in two equipment lines: the design-oriented variant "Style" and the sporty "R-Line". The style variant already offers the customer good standard equipment with 17-inch alloy wheels, white ambient lighting and air conditioning. The range is rounded off with a number of assistance systems such as a lane departure warning system, an emergency brake assistant and a drowsiness detection system. A digital cockpit is also available on request.

There are initially two petrol engines to choose from: a three-cylinder with a displacement of 1.0 liters and 115 hp or a four-cylinder that generates 150 hp from a displacement of 1.5 liters and is available as a manual switch or with an automatic double clutch. VW puts the standard consumption at 5.4 to 5.6 liters, the CO2 emissions at 123 to 127 g / km. The top version can optionally also be ordered with a direct shift gearbox. (AG / dpa)
