Car manufacturers like Opel, Ford and Peugeot no longer build Carios. VW is not impressed by this and is sending the T-Roc onto the market as an open version.
The Golf Cabrio is long history and the open Beetle is also no longer produced. But unlike its main competitors, VW doesn't let its customers go to waste inside, but is now putting them back in the fresh air. Because while brands like Opel, Ford or Peugeot have said goodbye to the open-air scene, the Lower Saxony companies are now back with a new compact convertible under the open sky.

And as if that weren't brave enough, they also change the genre and cut open an SUV: That's why they start delivering the T-Roc Cabrio right on time for the start of the season at prices from 27,495 euros.
Surcharge of 4000 euros
For an extra charge of around 4,000 euros, they replace the tin roof with a tight fabric hood that folds electrically behind the rear seats within ten seconds. But that's not the only difference. On the way to the sun, the T-Roc becomes a two-door, in the rear you move so closely together that there is only enough space for two, and the once so large and variable trunk shrinks from 445 to 280 liters.

But VW is not completely giving up its practical virtues. First of all, the two remaining guests in the rear can get in without much contortion and sit surprisingly comfortably, secondly, the back seat can still be folded down and the T-Roc swallows a surfboard or a couple of water skis, and thirdly, the T-Roc is one of the few convertibles with the option of a trailer coupling. Not that someone would actually use it to haul a caravan, boat or horse - but at least you can still take the bikes with you.
Surprisingly suitable for everyday use
And the convertible proves to be surprisingly suitable for everyday use: Not only is the roof's insulation so good that you don't have to worry about wind and weather if spring is a bit late, and it's not just nice and cozy under the hood, but also nice and quiet. For a convertible, the T-Roc also offers a surprisingly good overview. Even without a parking beeper and a reversing camera, you can get through the city without dents even with the roof closed.
As unusual as the cut of this convertible is, so is the driving experience. Because the few centimeters more ground clearance, together with the comparatively high parapet, actually change the feeling: where you feel open and revealing in other open-air models like in a bikini on the beach, the swimsuit in the T-Roc is high-necked and you feel holed up behind the high walls of his beach castle.
Currently without all-wheel drive

At the same time, however, you can enjoy a better overview, stand a little above things and think you are ready for all adventures - even if VW does not currently offer the open T-Roc with all-wheel drive and it only differs from conventional ones due to the greater space under the floor pan Convertibles are different.
Of course, there is still a fresh breeze. Especially when all four side windows are lowered at the push of a button. The open-top T-Roc is offered exclusively as a gasoline engine and for the time being only in two versions: It starts with the 1.0-liter three-cylinder with 115 hp and the end is for the time being with the 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 150 hp at least 205 km / h and the hairstyle is already quite messed up.
If VW is already embarking on this adventure with an open end, then R GmbH will also come on board and insist on building their 300 hp engine in the convertible - by then at the latest there is no longer just a fresh wind blowing from Wolfsburg, then the T-Roc Cabrio could bring the perfect storm.
